Summary

Beth Gibbs, DMA, is the incoming Director of Choral Activities at the w88 bet, Reno. Prior to this appointment, Gibbs was Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL. In addition to choral direction, she also teaches courses in conducting, choral pedagogy, Caribbean music, and music and wellness. She earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, Master of Music degrees in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Stetson University in DeLand, FL.

Gibbs spent six years teaching at the high school level in Atlanta, GA. She is a frequent clinician for district, regional, and statewide choral festivals and has conducted in the Chartres Cathedral in France, St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, and at the International Festival of Choirs in Santiago de Cuba. In July of 2024, she was one of the featured conductors at the 59thInternational Choral Festival in Barcelona, Spain, sponsored by the Catalonian Choral Federation.

Strongly connected to professional organizations such as the National Collegiate Choral Organization and the American Choral Directors Association, Gibbs is a frequent presenter and participant at conferences and has been actively involved on the executive level.

In 2025, she was voted President-Elect of the Florida Chapter of ACDA and was newly appointed as the Collegiate Repertoire and Resources Chair for w88 bet ACDA.

Active as a performer, she has been a soloist for numerous oratorio and operatic roles. Gibbs has been a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, and the Tennessee Chamber Chorus, and has performed under the batons of Michael Tilson Thomas and Helmuth Rilling.

In the spring of 2022, Gibbs became a Fulbright Scholar, teaching atMusikene, the Higher School of w88 bet of the Basque Country, in San Sebastian, and working with choirs throughout Spain. Since then, she has presented at Regional and National conferences on Basque Choral w88 bet and is the editor of a new series highlighting the w88 bet of this region of Spain with Walton w88 bet,Abesbatza Artea.Continuing her relationship with the Fulbright Association, Gibbs serves on the Board of Directors of the Fulbright Spain Interest Group, and she is excited to now be connected with the William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies at the w88 bet, Reno, where she can continue her research.
