Summary
Hi! I'm Pamela, a biology faculty member who hopes to connect with our w88 casino. I'm passionate about education and have dedicated my career to teaching students in introductory biology courses and more advanced courses like Molecular Genetics. In the classroom, I strive to create a supportive and collaborative environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.
My path to becoming an educator has been marked by continuous learning and adaptation, and I understand the unique challenges that first-generation students face. My path was paved with incredible sacrifices, starting with those my parents made so I could become the first in my family to earn a bachelor's degree.
Coming from a rural high school in Northern California, I had limited resources and no clue how to navigate the world of higher education. My mother and I used the Encyclopedia Britannica (no internet back then!) to research colleges, and somehow, I landed at UC Davis.
I didn't have it all figured out, though. In fact, on my application, I selected two majors- math and physical education. I even had a recurring dream where I failed a physical education class because I couldn't climb a rope. Talk about anxiety! Also, the supportive environment of my small high school meant I was allowed extra time to complete exams. Imagine my surprise when I found that my professor and the TAs had already left when I finished my first Calculus test, resulting in a zero!
Those early experiences taught me the importance of mentorship and a supportive community. I was fortunate to find incredible faculty mentors who helped me discover my passion for science and guided me through the ups and downs of university life. Additionally, faculty mentors played a crucial role in guiding me to my career in teaching, inspiring me to decline medical school acceptance to attend graduate school and complete my doctorate.
Therefore, I hope to provide the same support to any Golden Scholar I can help with my mentorship. Please feel free to reach out!
